After earning two consecutive platinum plaques, T.I. is scheduled to make his film debut in a forthcoming untitled Warner Bros. Pictures project.
The flick is set to be directed by standout Hip-Hop video director Chris Robinson. Formerly known as Jellybeans, the comedy is set in an Atlanta roller-skating rink. King of the South, T.I. incarnates Rashad; the leader of a roller-skating team. Newcomer Lauren London plays New-New; a rink employee who is in love with the rapper's character.
Following the footsteps of other video-turned-movie directors, like Hype Williams (Belly) and Bryan Barber,(My Life in Idlewild), Robinson will make his directorial debut with the project. The film's script was written by Tina Chism, Antwone Fisher, Gina Prince-Bythewood and Joe Robert Cole. The film is based on music from Atlanta producer Dallas Austin and TLC's T-Boz.
To date, Robinson has directed such videos as Snoop Dogg's "Beautiful," Fat Joe and Nelly's "Get It Poppin" and Slum Village and Kanye West' "Selfish" among countless others.
Dates for the film's production and it's theatrical release have yet to be confirmed.
